X45CrNiW18-9 is a heat-resistant stainless steel material, mainly containing chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), tungsten (W) and other elements. Among them, the chromium content is relatively high, generally around 17%-19%, which can provide good corrosion resistance; the nickel content is about 8%-10%, which helps to improve the toughness and strength of the material; the tungsten content is about 1.5%-2.5%, which enhances the heat resistance of the material.

1. Good heat resistance: X45CrNiW18–9 steel can maintain stable performance at high temperatures and is suitable for high temperature working environments.
2. Corrosion resistance: Due to the high content of chromium, X45CrNiW18–9/1.4873 material has certain corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of the atmosphere, water and some chemical media.
3. Mechanical properties: It has high strength and hardness, and at the same time has certain toughness, and can withstand large loads and impacts.
4. Processing performance: X45CrNiW18–9/1.4873 steel materials can be made into parts of various shapes through forging, rolling, cutting and other processing methods.

 

The physical properties of X45CrNiW18-9 material are as follows:
1.Density: generally between 7.90 g/cm3. The high density makes it necessary to consider it in some application scenarios that require material weight, but it can also provide a certain stability and texture for the product.
2.Melting point: about 1350-1450℃. The higher melting point determines that it can maintain good stability in high temperature environment, and it is not easy to melt and deform due to high temperature, which is suitable for parts working under high temperature conditions.
3.Coefficient of thermal expansion: usually 10-16×10⁻⁶/℃ (20-1000℃). The coefficient of thermal expansion is an indicator of the degree of expansion of the material when heated. The thermal expansion coefficient of X45CrNiW18-9 is moderate. When the temperature changes, its dimensional change is relatively stable, which is very important for ensuring the matching accuracy and sealing performance of parts under different temperature conditions. For example, in some high-temperature pipe connection parts or heat exchangers, the appropriate thermal expansion coefficient can ensure the reliability and sealing of the connection, and reduce the risk of leakage or damage caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
4.Thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity is relatively poor. This means that during the heat transfer process, the thermal conductivity efficiency of the material is low, and the heat is less likely to be conducted through the material. In some applications that require rapid heat dissipation or have high requirements for heat conduction, it may be necessary to take additional heat dissipation measures or select materials with better thermal conductivity to ensure that the heat can be dissipated in time to avoid local overheating. However, in some cases, poor thermal conductivity can also be used as an advantage. For example, in situations where heat preservation or insulation is required, it can reduce heat loss and play a certain role in heat preservation.
5.Resistivity: High. A higher resistivity indicates that X45CrNiW18–9/1.4873 steel material has a weaker ability to conduct current, which may affect its electrical conductivity in electrical applications. However, in some situations where insulation or prevention of current leakage is required, high resistivity is an advantage, which can reduce the risk of current leakage and improve electrical safety.

What is the hardness of X45CrNiW18-9 material?
The hardness of X45CrNiW18-9 material will be different after different heat treatments.
Generally speaking, the hardness in the annealed state is about ≤255HBW. After quenching and tempering, the hardness can reach a higher level, usually around 35HRC or even higher.
It should be noted that the actual hardness may vary depending on factors such as the specific production process, heat treatment parameters, and batches of materials.
