Products Description
309s Stainless Steel Bar is a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel used for its excellent oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength, and creep resistance. The lower nickel content of Stainless Steel 309, compared to Stainless Steel 310, improves its resistance to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) attack at high temperatures. It is tough and ductile and can be readily fabricated and machined. SS 309S is the low-carbon version, and is recommended for applications where sensitization and subsequent corrosion by high temperature gases or condensates during shutdown may pose a problem.

Features
- Corrosion Resistance: 309 stainless stands-up excellently in a range of atmospheric environments even when exposed to corrosive elements.
- Heat Resistance: Can be hot worked at 1177⁰C and then can be quenched rapidly.
- Easy to weld by using fusion or resistance welding methods (preferably not oxyacetylene though).
- Can be headed, upset, drawn, and stamped even though it has high work hardening rate.
Applications
The 309 can be applied to a range of applications including a variety of accessories and equipment such as boiler baffles, furnace components, oven linings, fire box sheets, and other high temperature containers.
