Material characteristics
- Excellent Corrosion Resistance: astm a479 gr XM-19 material has significantly better corrosion resistance than common stainless steel materials such as 316, 316L, 317 and 317L. By increasing the proportion of alloying elements and adding Mo and N elements, its pitting resistance equivalent exceeds 34, and its corrosion resistance is close to duplex stainless steel. This feature enables it to serve stably in highly corrosive environments such as petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, and marine, effectively extending the service life of equipment and reducing maintenance costs. For example, in offshore drilling platforms, ships and other marine engineering equipment, its high strength and good corrosion resistance become key advantages.
- High strength: At room temperature, the yield strength of XM-19 is almost twice that of 316, 316L, 317 and 317L, and its tensile strength is also excellent. Even in high or low temperature environments, it can still maintain good mechanical properties. This makes it suitable for manufacturing parts with strict strength requirements, such as pumps, valves and accessories, fasteners, cables, chains, etc., to ensure reliability under various working conditions.
- Good processing performance: Although XM-19 alloy has high composition elements, high strength and high deformation resistance at high temperatures, it can still be smoothly forged, machined and other operations through reasonable processing technology to meet the production needs of parts with different shapes and precision requirements.
- Low magnetic permeability: Even after large cold deformation or in a sub-zero temperature environment, astm a479 XM-19 can still maintain a low magnetic permeability, which is suitable for special scenarios with strict magnetic requirements, such as certain electronic equipment, medical instruments and other fields.

Production Process
- According to the material characteristics of XM-19, a specific forging process is adopted. First, the steel ingot is drawn and blanked. After the sawing machine unloads the material, the blank is heated to the appropriate temperature. During the forging process, the temperature and deformation of each fire are strictly controlled. For example, the first fire starts at 1180℃ and the final forging is 900℃ for chamfering of the steel ingot out of the furnace; the subsequent fires are controlled at 1180℃ - 1200℃ and 800℃ - 850℃ according to different processes. Through multiple fires of upsetting, drawing, punching, and expansion, the forging structure is homogenized and dense, surface cracking is avoided, and product quality is ensured. After forging, solution heat treatment is carried out to further optimize the material properties.
- After the forged blank is heated to the appropriate rolling temperature in the heating furnace, it is sent to the rolling mill for rolling. Through the extrusion of the rollers, the deformation and dimensional accuracy are accurately controlled to produce stainless steel bars of different specifications. Advanced automatic control systems are used during the rolling process to ensure the stability of the rolling process and the consistency of product dimensions.
- The rolled stainless steel bars are straightened, cut, and surface treated (such as peeling, polishing, etc.) to meet the surface quality and dimensional accuracy requirements of different customers. At the same time, strict quality inspections are carried out on the products according to relevant standards, including chemical composition analysis, mechanical properties testing, metallographic structure inspection, etc., to ensure that each XM-19 stainless steel round bar meets high quality standards.
