Products Description

17 4 ph stainless steel round bar has good corrosion resistance in many environments. They exhibit improved resistance against stress corrosion cracking, if aged at 550°C or more. However, grade 17-4ph stainless steel bars are less resistant to solution treated Condition A, and hence these steels, even with considerable hardness, should not be used in this condition.

Heat Resistance
17-4ph stainless steel have good resistance to oxidation. However, long-time exposure of grade 17-4phto temperatures of 370 to 480°C should be avoided, to prevent loss of toughness at ambient temperature. These grades should not be used at temperatures above age-hardening temperature, to avoid reduction of hardness and mechanical properties of the metal.

17-4PH heat treatment specification and metallographic structure:

1) solution 1020~1060 ℃ rapid cooling;

2) 480 ℃ aging, after solution treatment, 470~490 ℃ air cooling;

3) Aging at 550 ℃, after solution treatment, air cooling at 540~560 ℃;

4) 580 ℃ aging, after solution treatment, 570~590 ℃ air cooling;

5) Aging at 620 ℃, after solution treatment, air cooling at 610-630 ℃.
