The mechanical properties of 1.4313 stainless steel are affected by the processing technology and heat treatment conditions. Under normal conditions, its tensile strength is ≥650MPa, yield strength is ≥440MPa, and elongation is ≥18%. After quenching and tempering, the mechanical properties can be further improved.
Its weldability is relatively poor, the machinability is 5 (1=poor - 10=good), and it has good polishability.

Production Process

1.4313 stainless steel heat treatment usually includes annealing, quenching and tempering. Annealing can improve the plasticity and toughness of steel and improve processing performance; quenching can improve the hardness and strength of steel and improve its corrosion resistance; tempering can reduce hardness and improve toughness to improve the processing performance of steel. In specific applications, it is necessary to select the appropriate heat treatment method according to different requirements.
Its common heat treatment system is as follows:
- Delivery condition +QT650: harden at 950-1010°C, cool in oil or air, and temper at 700-780°C.
- Delivery condition +QT700: harden at 950-1050°C, cool in oil or air, and temper at 650-750°C.
- Delivery condition +QT750: harden at 950-1010°C, cool in oil or air, and temper at 620-700°C.
- Delivery condition +QT800: hardened at 950-1050°C, cooled in oil or air, tempered at 600-700°C.
In addition, among forged stainless steels, the composition of 1.4313 stainless steel is noteworthy because it contains relatively high levels of nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr). Nickel is mainly used to obtain a specific microstructure, which has a beneficial effect on mechanical properties and certain types of corrosion; the higher chromium content gives it additional corrosion resistance.
It should be noted that 1.4313 stainless steel produced by different manufacturers may have certain differences in specific composition and properties.
x3crnimo 13-4/1.4313 stainless steel has the following performance characteristics:
- Excellent corrosion resistance: especially strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chlorinated solutions; can resist corrosion from various strong acids, strong alkalis and salt water.
- Good strength properties.
- It has a certain heat resistance and can resist intergranular corrosion in the temperature range below 300°C.
