Selection Of Cold Rolling Die Steel

The main series of cold rolling die steel is high hardness cold working type, which is mainly used for dies requiring high compression resistance and wear resistance. The hardness is higher than HRC60-62. The hardness of the die required to be impact resistant and high toughness is lower than HRC60 - 62. Class S and some Class A and the most common quenched and tempered steel, spring steel, hot working die or base steel are mainly used. For large stamping dies, such as automobile external stamping parts, cast iron is mainly used. Zinc base alloy or polymer composite materials are used for simple or small life.

The application of high speed steel and ultra-high speed steel in cold working dies is growing rapidly. It is mainly due to the high "compressive strength/hardness" ratio. The hardness can be selected from HRC60-70.

Powder die steel has excellent wear resistance life, hardness is not high HRC60-62, and is widely used.

Carbon tool steel still has a certain application range in the punch or soft material stamping die with a life of 100000 pieces.
