4130 Forged Alloy Steel Round Bar

4130 steel (also known as AISI 4130 and SAE 4130) is a chromium molybdenum low alloy steel with much higher strength and toughness than typical steel grades. In addition, the carbon content of this alloy is reduced while limiting the thickness strength, providing better weldability than its 4140 steel counterpart. These characteristics make AISI 4130 a popular choice in the aerospace industry for manufacturing commercial and military aircraft components that require high strength and low weight. Examples include gears, piston pins, etc. Other uses of 4130 steel include automotive parts, cutting tools, and drilling and mining machinery.
NOMINAL CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS:
C : 0. 28 – 0. 33 %
Mn: 0. 40 – 0. 60 %
P: 0.035 % max
S: 0.040 % max
Si: 0. 2 –. 35 %
Cr: 0. 8-1.10 %
Mo: 0. 15 – 0. 25 %
① The user requires Si ≤ 0.10%. When used for certain cold formed components, Si ≤ 0.10% should be selected.
② Ni and Cu represent residual content.
③ When the steel contains 0.15% to 0.35% Pb, add the letter "L" between the second and third digits of the steel grade, such as 41L40. When lead Pb is added to the ladle, no thermal analysis is performed.

4130 alloy steel is usually used in a quenched and tempered state, and steel with a lower carbon content can also be used as carburized steel with higher core strength requirements. In the medium-sized machinery manufacturing industry, it is mainly used to manufacture quenched and tempered parts with large cross-sections that work under high stress conditions, such as shafts, spindles, and control wheels, bolts, double head bolts, gears, etc. under high loads; Used in the chemical industry to manufacture welded parts, welded structures composed of plates and pipes, and high-pressure conduits with a temperature not exceeding 250 ℃ working in a medium containing nitrogen and hydrogen; In the manufacturing industry of steam turbines and boilers, it is used to manufacture fasteners for work below 450 ℃, flanges and flange covers under high pressure below 500 ℃.
