W9Mo3Cr4V High speed steel properties:


W9Mo3Cr4V high-speed steel has superior toughness, wear resistance, and thermoplastic properties compared to W6Mo5Cr4V2, while its hardness, red hardness, and high-temperature hardness are comparable to W6Mo5Cr4V2. Therefore, W9Mo3Cr4V high-speed steel can not only be used for manufacturing various types of general tools, but also for making large and thermoplastic formed tools. Due to the high strength and good wear resistance of W9Mo3Cr4V steel, it can also be used to produce wear resistant parts under high loads, such as cold extrusion molds. However, at this time, the quenching temperature must be appropriately reduced to meet the requirements of strength and toughness. W9Mo3Cr4V high speed steel is easy to be oxidized and decarburized. Attention should be paid to it during Hot working and heat treatment.
W9Mo3Cr4V steel, abbreviated as W9, is a representative steel grade of tungsten molybdenum series universal high-speed steel. It is a high alloy steel containing a variety of alloy elements, and belongs to the Lystraite type steel. It has high hardness, high wear resistance, high thermal hardness, high hardenability, sufficient plasticity and toughness, and good casting, forging, welding and machining properties, so it occupies an important position in Tool steel

  • Mechanical properties of W9Mo3Cr4V:

Hardness: Delivery hardness: (annealed) ≤ 255HBW. Sample heat treatment system and quenching and tempering hardness: ≥ 64HRC.
W9Mo3Cr4V delivery status: delivered in heat treated (normalized, annealed, or high-temperature tempered) or non heat treated state, and the delivery status should be specified in the contract.

  • W9Mo3Cr4V heat treatment process:

Heat treatment specifications: quenching, preheating at 820-870 ℃, heating at 1200-1220 ℃ (salt bath furnace) or 1220-1240 ℃ (box furnace), oil cooling, tempering twice at 540-560 ℃, hardness/HRC not less than 64.
