What is 4340 steel used for?

4340 steel is used for important quenched and tempered parts that require good toughness, high strength, and large dimensions, such as heavy-duty machinery shafts, turbine shafts with a diameter greater than 250mm, helicopter rotor shafts, turbine shafts, blades, heavy-duty transmission parts, crankshaft fasteners, gears, etc.
4340 alloy steel can also be used to operate rotor shafts and blades with temperatures exceeding 400 ℃; 4340 can also be nitrided and used to manufacture important parts with special performance requirements. After low-temperature tempering or isothermal quenching, 4340 can be used as ultra-high strength steel.
4340 steel is used for manufacturing important components with high strength and good plasticity, and for manufacturing important parts with special functional requirements after nitriding treatment, such as shafts, gears, fasteners, etc.

4340 steel bar application

In summary, 4340 alloy steel is a high-strength steel with excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance. Through appropriate heat treatment processes, its hardness and strength can be further improved. 4340 alloy steel is an ideal choice for manufacturing components with high load and strength requirements.
