Main components of stainless steel

The main elements of stainless steel are iron, chromium, nickel, carbon, manganese, etc.

1. Iron: It is the basic metal element of stainless steel.

2. Chromium: it is the basic component of stainless steel. Increasing the chromium content is very effective to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel to oxidizing acids, and also to improve the resistance to spot corrosion.

3. Nickel: It is one of the basic elements of austenitic stainless steel. The main role of nickel in stainless steel is that it changes the crystal structure of steel.

4. Carbon: It can improve the strength. Carbon can form compound Cr23C6, NbC, TiC, TaC and other carbides with other elements in stainless steel.

5. Manganese: It can improve the high temperature resistance. Manganese is generally in stainless steel, reducing the corrosion and oxidation resistance.
