Is nickel 718 the same as INCONEL 718?

In the chemical composition of Inconel 718, nickel, chromium, and molybdenum are the main strengthening elements of the alloy. Titanium and aluminum can form a strong oxide film, which plays a role in resisting corrosion and oxidation. Copper can improve the strength and corrosion resistance of alloys. In addition, an appropriate cobalt content can enhance the high-temperature performance and thermal fatigue life of the alloy.

Inconel 718 is a high-temperature alloy, also known as UNS N07718. It is composed of elements such as nickel, chromium, iron, cobalt, aluminum, titanium, niobium, and silicon, and has excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and toughness. Its main chemical components are as follows:
Nickel (Ni): Content 50-55%
Chromium (Cr): Content 17-21%
Iron (Fe): Content 18.5-21.5%
Cobalt (Co): Content below 1%
Aluminum (Al): Content 0.2-0.8%
Titanium (Ti): Content 0.65-1.15%
Silicon (Si): Content below 0.3%
Niobium (Nb): content between 5 and 5.5%
Carbon (C): Content below 0.08%
Manganese (Mn): Content below 0.35%
Phosphorus (P): content below 0.015%
Sulfur (S): content below 0.015%
Inconel 718 has excellent high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance, and can work in high temperature, strong corrosion, and high stress environments. Therefore, it is widely used in fields such as aerospace, nuclear industry, and petrochemical industry.
