a2 and m390 which is better for making knife?

A2  is a high hardness Tool steel, also known as air quenched Tool steel, because of its very strong quenching ability, it can obtain high hardness and good cutting performance. The chemical composition of a2 steel is: carbon (c) 1.00-1.50%, chromium (cr) 4.75-5.50%, molybdenum (mo) 0.90-1.40%, and cobalt (co) 0.25%.
advantage
1. High hardness: After quenching treatment, the hardness of a2 steel can reach 60-62 HRC, making it very suitable for making cutting edges.
2. Good cutting performance: The structure of a2 steel is very delicate and contains rich elements such as chromium and molybdenum, which can achieve good cutting performance.
3. Suitable for making durable cutting tools: Due to the excellent hardness and toughness of a2 steel, it is suitable for making tools that require durability.
shortcoming
1. Water cooling cannot be used: Due to the small amount of cobalt in the synthesis of a2 steel, water cannot be used for cooling.
2. Easy to rust: A2 steel has poor corrosion resistance and is prone to rust.
About blade material m390
Knife material M390 is a high-grade stainless steel, also known as superalloy, and is currently one of the most popular high-grade knife materials on the market. The chemical composition of M390 steel is: carbon (C) 1.90%, molybdenum (Mo) 4.00%, cobalt (Co) 1.00%, chromium (Cr) 20.00%, vanadium (V) 0.60%, and silicon (Si) 0.70%.
advantage
1. High hardness: The hardness of m390 steel can reach 60-62 HRC, making it very suitable for making cutting edges.
2. Excellent corrosion resistance: The main components of m390 steel are chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium, which can achieve excellent corrosion resistance.
3. Good cutting performance: Compared with a2 steel, m390 steel has better cutting performance and can achieve higher cost-effectiveness.
shortcoming
1. Expensive price: Due to the complex synthetic composition of m390 steel, the cost is also very expensive.
2. Relatively difficult to machine: The hardness of m390 steel also brings a certain degree of difficulty in machining, requiring complex processes such as high-temperature treatment and quenching.
