Inconel 690 is an alloy mainly used as a heat transfer tube material for steam generators in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants, and is the core technology of steam generators.

Alloy 690 has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and intergranular stress corrosion cracking, and is mainly used as a heat transfer tube material for steam generators in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants. The materials used for heat transfer tubes of steam generators in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants have undergone a development process, including 304 austenitic stainless steel, 600 alloy, 800 alloy, and 690 alloy. Research on corrosion failure during service of alloy 600 shows that intergranular corrosion and intergranular stress corrosion cracking are the main problems. There have been no reports of damage to 690 alloy as a heat transfer tube material for steam generators in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants since it was put into use in the 1990s.

Characteristics:

The chemical composition of Inconel 690 contains over 70% nickel, which gives it excellent corrosion resistance, especially in environments with strong acids, alkalis, and high temperatures and pressures, maintaining stable chemical properties. At the same time, the addition of chromium enables the alloy to form a dense oxide film in the high-temperature and high-pressure oxidation environment, further improving the corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength of the alloy.
