1215 Carbon Steel

AISI 1215 free cutting steel is an environmentally friendly steel. It does not contain harmful substances to the environment, such as lead.

1215 carbon steel is mainly used for manufacturing instruments and meters, watch parts, automotive parts, machine tool parts, etc. which have strict requirements for size and smoothness. The chemical composition of 1215 free cutting steel mainly includes carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur.

In the hot-rolled condition, 1215 steel tensile strength σ b (MPa) is ≥ 420, the elongation δ 5 (%) is ≥ 22, and 1215 steel hardness is ≤ 160HB. The surface is usually black. At present, the most popular condition is 1215 cold rolled steel bar, which can reach hardness of 160-190HB. It saves the cost of heat treatment and can be processed directly.

Advantages and Disadvantages

The main advantages of 1215 steel are easy processing, low cost, high strength, and good wear resistance, making it suitable for large-scale production. However, 1215 steel has a high sulfur content and is prone to hydrogen embrittlement. It is prone to annealing and softening at high temperatures. 1215 steel is unsuitable for use in harsh environments such as high temperature and high pressure.

 Port:Any Chinese Port

• 20 feet container: when the bar length within 5.8 meters, will arrange shipping by 20 feet container, load 25 ton/per container.
• 40 feet container: when the bar length within 11.5 meters, will shipping by 40 feet containers, load 25 tons/per container.
• Bulk Vessel: when the bar length over 11.5 meters, and quantity is big, will shipping by Bulk Vessel, the freight is cheap in this way.
