Products Description
1.4057 is a kind of steel with better strength and toughness in martensitic stainless steel. It is a low carbon chrome-nickel type corrosion resistant steel with high strength and hardness. It has good corrosion resistance to oxidizing acids (nitric acid at a certain temperature and concentration, most organic acids) and organic acid aqueous solution Sub-temperature quenching can effectively inhibit the high temperature temper brittleness of the steel. It can reduce the brittle transition temperature of the steel, improve the toughness, change the fracture morphology from quasi-cleavage type to dimple type, and transfer the alloy elements to the matrix and δ- The enrichment degree in ferrite increases, which can improve the toughness of steel while maintaining a high strength level. However, this steel has poor weldability and is prone to crack, so it is not suitable to weld when manufacturing tools.

1.4057 /431 Tool Steel Characteristics
1.4057 stainless steel usually contains: 15 - 17% chromium; 2% - 2.5% nickel; 0.12 - 0.22% carbon. It may also contain small amounts of silicon, molybdenum and phosphorus.
Chromium is the main alloying element of martensitic 1.4057 stainless steel, which inherently has medium corrosion resistance to materials with high strength and hardness. Generally, nickel with a concentration of 2 - 2.5% is added as a stabilizing element to ensure that martensitic steel maintains its toughness during heat treatment, thus allowing the manufacture of a range of component types.
1.4057 m martensitic stainless steel is often forgotten, possibly because their demand is not high compared with austenitic and ferritic stainless steel. However, they often play a huge and often unknown role in modern infrastructure. The strength obtained by heat treatment depends on the carbon content of the alloy. Increasing the carbon content will increase the potential hardness and strength, but will reduce the toughness and ductility.
Higher carbon grades can be heat treated to a hardness of up to 60 HRC. The best corrosion resistance can be achieved under heat treatment, hardening and tempering conditions. Other martensitic grades are formed by adding nickel and nitrogen, but the carbon content is lower than the traditional grades. 431 (1.4057) stainless steel has better weldability, toughness and corrosion resistance.
